Lake Lucerne — known in German as the Vierwaldstättersee — is one of Switzerland’s most celebrated lakes, stretching through the cantons of Lucerne, Uri, Schwyz, and Nidwalden in the heart of Central Switzerland. The Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (SGV AG) operates a fleet of historic paddle-wheel steamers and modern motor vessels on all scheduled routes. Boats depart from Lucerne’s lakeside quay, directly beside the railway station, and call at lakeside towns and mountain railway connection points throughout the day.
