Most regular trains in Switzerland do not require a seat reservation. Simply board with a valid ticket or travel pass and choose an available seat.
However, some panoramic trains require a separate seat reservation, even when the journey itself is covered by your Swiss Travel Pass.
This includes selected services such as:
- Glacier Express
- Bernina Express
- GoldenPass Express
- Gotthard Panorama Express
For popular mountain excursions and panoramic routes, we recommend checking reservation requirements before travelling, especially during the high season.
The Swiss Travel Pass covers travel within the Swiss Travel System network.
If your journey starts or ends outside Switzerland, you may need an additional international ticket for the part of the journey that is not covered by your pass.
Always check the coverage for your specific route before travelling.
No. Luggage transfer services are not included with the Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex or Swiss Half Fare Card.
If you’d prefer to travel without carrying your luggage, SBB offers separate luggage transport services between selected stations and destinations.
If you experience a problem with your ticket or travel pass while you’re in Switzerland, please speak to staff at an SBB station as soon as possible.
For questions relating to your GoSwiss booking, you can also contact our support team.
If your journey is disrupted and you may need to make a claim later, we recommend keeping your tickets, booking confirmations and any documentation relating to the disruption.
Most GoSwiss tickets and passes are issued electronically.
You should normally receive your booking confirmation and travel documents by email within 30 minutes of completing your order.
If you haven’t received them:
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Make sure you entered the correct email address when booking.
- Contact our support team if your documents still haven’t arrived.
Some products can only be issued within a certain period before your travel date, so delivery times may vary for bookings made well in advance.
Yes.
You can usually present your Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card digitally using the QR code on your mobile device. You may also print your travel document if you prefer.
Please make sure the QR code is clearly visible and that your phone has enough battery for ticket inspections.
Keep your travel document available throughout your journey.
Swiss Travel System tourist passes purchased separately are generally provided as standalone travel documents and may not be added directly to the standard SBB app.
Keep the electronic ticket or QR code you received with your booking available on your phone.
Unlike the standard Swiss Travel Pass, the Swiss Travel Pass Flex requires you to activate each day you want to travel.
Always activate your travel day before beginning your journey.
Follow the activation instructions provided with your booking confirmation.
We’re here to make travelling around Switzerland as easy as possible.
If you have a question about your booking, travel pass, train ticket or mountain excursion, contact the GoSwiss team.
